Lucknow, 28 Feb, 2026 02:40 PMNew Delhi | 28 Feb 2026 The Indian Embassy in Iran on Saturday issued a fresh advisory for Indian nationals living in the country, asking them to remain indoors and avoid all non-essential movement. In a message shared on X, the embassy urged people to exercise “utmost caution,” closely follow local developments, and wait for further instructions from Indian authorities. Emergency contact numbers were also released to assist nationals in case of need. The advisory came amid sharply rising tensions after Israel launched a pre-emptive military strike against Iran. Soon after, Donald Trump confirmed US involvement in the strikes, saying the action was aimed at “to defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats.” Reports indicated that key military and intelligence targets were hit, with explosions witnessed in central Tehran. Following the strikes, sirens were heard across Israel, and the country temporarily shut its airspace. The Israeli military described the move as a “proactive alert to prepare the public for the possibility of missiles being launched toward the state of Israel.” Residents in both countries were advised by local authorities to stay alert as the situation continues to evolve. Earlier in the day, Indian nationals in Israel were also cautioned. The Indian embassy in Tel Aviv asked them to remain vigilant, follow safety guidelines issued by Israeli authorities, and avoid non-essential travel until further notice. Indian missions in the region said they are closely monitoring developments and will continue to issue updates to ensure the safety of citizens abroad.
