Haryana Minister Anil Vij Says Film Dhurandhar Exposes Pakistan’s Reality as Spy Thriller Crosses ₹500 Crore

Chandigarh, December 21: Haryana Cabinet Minister Anil Vij on Saturday praised the recently released spy thriller Dhurandhar, saying the film brings out facts that are usually hidden from public view and exposes what he described as the reality of Pakistan. His remarks came as the Ranveer Singh-starrer continued its strong run at the box office, crossing the ₹500 crore mark within just 15 days of release. Speaking to reporters, Vij said Dhurandhar is a rare film that dares to show uncomfortable truths. According to him, the movie highlights how terrorist networks operate and how preparations for attacks around the world take place in Pakistan. He claimed that this is the reason why the film has reportedly faced resistance and bans in some Muslim countries. The Haryana minister said the film attempts to show what is usually not seen on screen. He added that it presents how such networks are formed and how efforts are made to break them from within. Vij further claimed that Pakistan is unhappy with the film because it exposes what he called long-running activities that have remained hidden for years. He also mentioned hearing reports that Pakistan is planning to make a counter-film in response to Dhurandhar. Vij stated that the film is not just entertainment but also a reflection of real events. He said that preparations for terrorist attacks across the world are made in Pakistan and that this truth is now being revealed through cinema. According to him, this is why the film has become controversial in certain regions. Meanwhile, Dhurandhar continues to perform exceptionally well at the box office. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed that the film entered the ₹500 crore club on its 15th day and is steadily moving towards the ₹600 crore milestone. Despite competition from other major releases, the film has remained the top choice for moviegoers. Adarsh shared that Dhurandhar earned ₹23.70 crore on its third Friday alone, setting a new record. The collection was significantly higher than several other blockbuster films. By comparison, Pushpa 2 (Hindi version) collected ₹12.50 crore, Chhaava earned ₹13.30 crore, and Baahubali 2 (Hindi) made ₹10.05 crore on their respective third Fridays. According to Adarsh, these numbers show the film’s strong hold and growing popularity. In a post on social media platform X, Adarsh described Dhurandhar as an “unstoppable force” at the box office. He said the film’s performance is extraordinary, especially considering the arrival of big international releases. He added that the weekend collections are expected to push the film even closer to the ₹600 crore mark. Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan and Sara Arjun in important roles. The film follows the story of an Indian spy named Hamza, who goes undercover in Pakistan and joins the gang of Rehman Dakait. The plot is inspired by real-life events and major incidents such as the 2001 Parliament attack and the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. By blending action, emotion and real-world references, Dhurandhar offers viewers a gripping look into the India-Pakistan conflict from an intelligence perspective. With strong public response, political reactions and record-breaking box office numbers, the film has become one of the most talked-about releases of the year.
