Anil Baluni Gets Key BJP Communication Role in Major Organisational Reshuffle

New Delhi, September 23, 2026: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday announced a major organisational reshuffle, appointing in-charges and co-in-charges for states and Union Territories. The changes, announced by BJP national president Nitin Nabin, come as the party reorganises its organisational structure ahead of the 2027 Assembly election cycle.

One of the key changes is the expanded responsibility assigned to Lok Sabha MP Anil Baluni, who has been appointed coordinator for the BJP’s communication setup, including social media, television and print media. Baluni has moved from his earlier responsibility as convenor of the party’s media cell, which has now been assigned to Ashish Usha Agrawal.

Baluni’s elevation gives him a broader role in coordinating the party’s communication and media operations at the national level. The change comes as the BJP undertakes a wider reorganisation of responsibilities among its national office-bearers.

Ram Madhav Gets Uttarakhand and Tamil Nadu

BJP national vice-president Ram Madhav has been given charge of poll-bound Uttarakhand as well as Tamil Nadu. The appointment assumes significance as Uttarakhand is among the states scheduled to go to the polls in the upcoming Assembly election cycle.

National general secretaries Vinod Tawde and Satish Poonia will continue to handle Uttar Pradesh and Punjab, respectively. Both states are also scheduled to face Assembly elections early next year.

Major State-Level Organisational Changes

Smriti Irani has been assigned Haryana and Chhattisgarh, while Vinay Sahasrabuddhe will be in charge of Delhi. Jamyang Tsering Namgyal and Darshana Jardosh have been appointed co-in-charges for Delhi.

Tarun Chugh retains responsibility for Gujarat, while Baijayant Jay Panda has been appointed in-charge of Maharashtra. Amit Malviya, Sadanand Shet Tanawade and Kamaljeet Sehrawat will serve as co-in-charges in Maharashtra.

Harish Dwivedi has been assigned Bihar and Karnataka, while D. Purandeswari will handle Odisha and Sanjay Bhatia Rajasthan.

Sunil Bansal, who already holds responsibility for West Bengal, has additionally been given charge of Telangana.

Among the other appointments, Mangal Pandey has been assigned Assam, Kanad Purkayastha Meghalaya and Anil Antony Goa and Nagaland. Bhagwat Karad will continue to oversee Mizoram.

Raju Bista has been named in-charge of Sikkim, George Kurian for Lakshadweep, Rajkumar Bhatia for Ladakh and K. Surendran for Puducherry.

The latest organisational changes represent a broad redistribution of responsibilities within the BJP’s national structure. The expanded communication role for Anil Baluni, alongside the appointment of senior leaders to key states, forms a significant part of the party’s organisational preparations ahead of the next Assembly election cycle.
