The All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has strongly criticised repeated safety violations during the shooting of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, also known as Dhurandhar 2, starring Ranveer Singh and directed by Aditya Dhar. The statement came after the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) blacklisted members of Dhar’s production house, B62 Studios, for what it described as repeated breaches of safety norms during filming in Mumbai.
In an official press note issued by AICWA president Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, the association condemned what it called “alarming safety violations” on the film set. The statement clearly said, “The life, safety, and dignity of film industry workers, technicians, and labourers cannot be compromised under any circumstances.” AICWA reiterated that it has been raising concerns for years about production houses ignoring mandatory safety rules, legal regulations, and basic protections for workers.
The association pointed out that such negligence often leads to serious accidents. In its note, AICWA said that every year workers lose their lives or suffer severe injuries due to fires, electric shocks, and unsafe or collapsing sets. It also referred to past tragic incidents at Goregaon Filmcity and other studios, calling them painful reminders of the constant risks faced by film workers. The organisation added that complaints have been submitted to the Chief Minister and the BMC, but “timely and strict action is rarely taken,” which allows negligent producers to continue unsafe practices.
Backing the civic body’s move, AICWA said it fully supports the action taken by the BMC against B62 Studios. According to reports, the BMC has barred certain members of the production team from applying for shooting permissions in Mumbai, citing repeated violations. The civic body has also proposed a fine of ₹1 lakh and recommended forfeiting a ₹25,000 deposit, alleging that filming was carried out on a building terrace and generator vans were used without proper approvals. Dhurandhar 2, which also features R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal and Sara Arjun, is currently scheduled for release on March 19.
