Kaushambi | 27 March 2026 A tragic road accident in Kaushambi claimed the lives of seven devotees on Friday, as their vehicle collided with a stationary truck on the Kanpur–Prayagraj highway. The victims, residents of Fatehpur district, were returning after visiting a temple on the occasion of Ram Navami when the incident occurred near the Dorama petrol pump in the Saini area. According to officials, the pickup vehicle carrying around 25 passengers lost control and rammed into a parked trailer from behind. The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the vehicle badly damaged. Among those who lost their lives were four women and three children, while more than two dozen others sustained injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. Health authorities immediately responded by deploying multiple ambulances to shift the injured to the Community Health Centre in Sirathu and the district hospital. Medical teams, including senior officials, remained present to monitor treatment. Several injured victims with serious conditions were later referred to higher medical facilities for advanced care. The group had travelled earlier in the day to attend a Mundan ceremony and offer prayers at a temple in the region. The accident caused temporary traffic disruption on the highway as rescue operations were carried out. Authorities have expressed condolences and are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash.
