Lucknow, 15 Jun, 2026 02:45 PMNew Delhi, June 15, 2026 A routine road journey turned into an unexpected emergency in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur, drawing attention to the importance of combining digital navigation with real-time road awareness. The incident underlined that while navigation tools have become an essential part of travel, local conditions can still play a decisive role in road safety. According to reports, a family travelling from Dadri to Kithore was following directions through Google Maps when their car reportedly moved onto an incorrect route near the Preet Vihar railway underpass area in Hapur. The vehicle eventually entered a water-filled drain, leaving all four family members stranded inside. The family remained trapped for nearly two hours before help arrived. Rescue teams reached the location after receiving information and carried out an operation to safely evacuate everyone from the vehicle. The car was later recovered, and no injuries were reported during the incident. Although the situation ended safely, it sparked renewed conversation around cautious driving practices and the limits of relying entirely on navigation systems. The incident served as a reminder that on-ground judgement remains equally important while travelling through unfamiliar routes.
