Lucknow, 18 Dec, 2025 11:23 PMJaunpur, December 18: A disturbing case of double murder has emerged from Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur district, where a man allegedly killed his elderly parents following a family dispute over money, dismembered their bodies, and dumped the remains in rivers to hide the crime. Police said the accused later cleaned his house and car with detergent to remove bloodstains before fleeing. The accused has been identified as Ambesh Kumar, also known as Rinku, a 37-year-old B.Tech graduate and resident of Ahmedpur village under the Jafrabad police station area. He was arrested on December 15 after remaining on the run for more than five days. During interrogation, Kumar reportedly confessed to killing his parents and gave detailed accounts of the crime, police officials said. According to investigators, the incident took place on December 8 following an argument between Kumar and his mother, Babita Devi, over money and long-standing family issues. Police said the argument escalated quickly, and in a fit of rage, Kumar picked up an iron pestle lying nearby and struck his mother on the head. She collapsed on the spot. Hearing the commotion, Kumar’s father, Shyam Bahadur, intervened and reportedly threatened to call the police. As he attempted to dial the emergency number, Kumar attacked him with the same iron pestle. Even after the father fell to the ground and tried to shout for help, Kumar struck him again. When the man continued to make noise, Kumar strangled him with a rope, police said. An officer from Jafrabad police station said that after the attack, Kumar realised that both his parents were no longer breathing. Panic-stricken, he began thinking about how to dispose of the bodies to avoid being caught. During questioning, Kumar reportedly told police that he brought a metal cutting saw from the basement of the house and cut both bodies into three pieces each. He packed the body parts into several plastic bags, placed them in sacks, and loaded them into the boot of his car. He then cleaned the house to remove visible bloodstains. Police said that on December 9, between 4 pm and 5 pm, Kumar drove to the Belav bridge and threw the sacks containing the chopped bodies into the Gomti River. After returning home, he washed the trunk of his car thoroughly using detergent to erase any traces of blood. However, Kumar later realised that one severed leg of his mother had been left behind at the house. On the same day, he allegedly packed the limb in a bag and dumped it into the Sai River from a bridge in Jalalpur, police said. Investigators also recovered the murder weapon, the metal cutting saw, along with the mobile phones of the deceased, which Kumar had hidden under sand on the second floor of the house in an attempt to conceal evidence. The case came to light after Kumar’s sister, Vandana, filed a missing persons complaint on December 13. She told police that her brother had called her on December 8, claiming that their parents had left home after an argument and that he was going to search for them. His phone was later switched off, raising suspicion. Police launched a search operation and questioned Kumar, who reportedly broke down during interrogation and confessed to the crime. Officials said forensic evidence and his confession helped establish the sequence of events. According to police, Kumar was married five years ago and has two children. He had been living with his parents in Ahmedpur village for the past three months before the incident. The bodies of the victims are yet to be fully recovered, and further investigation is underway. Police said the accused will be produced before the court and charged under relevant sections of the law. The case has shocked the local community, with residents describing the incident as deeply disturbing and tragic.
