Doda Youth Foils Alleged Honeytrap Attempt Linked to Army Information

Srinagar, June 2, 2026 The growing threat of online honeytrap operations has once again come into focus after a young man from Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district reportedly prevented an attempt to obtain sensitive military-related information through social media. The incident highlights the importance of digital awareness and vigilance in an era where national security threats can emerge through online interactions. According to reports, the youth received a Facebook friend request from a woman claiming to be from Pakistan. After establishing contact, she allegedly began asking for photographs and information related to Indian Army activities and installations. The repeated requests reportedly raised suspicion, prompting the young man to refrain from sharing any details. Reports state that when he refused to provide the requested information, the woman allegedly resorted to threats, including warnings about leaking his personal photographs and causing harm to his family members. Despite the pressure, the youth did not comply and instead alerted the authorities about the interaction. The incident is being viewed as an example of how alert citizens can help prevent potential security breaches. It also serves as a reminder for social media users to exercise caution while engaging with unknown individuals online, particularly when conversations involve requests for sensitive or strategic information. Authorities continue to urge people to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities immediately.
