Uttarakhand Media Delegation Meets Odisha Governor, Highlights Shared Growth and Spiritual Connect

Dehradun/Bhubaneswar, March 24, 2026:

In a significant exchange reflecting India’s spirit of dialogue and unity, a delegation of senior journalists from Uttarakhand met Hari Babu Kambhampati at Lok Bhavan in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday. The interaction turned into a meaningful discussion on development, culture, and shared opportunities between the two states.

The 13-member media delegation, led by Assistant Director Sanjeev Kumar Sundriyal, is currently on a press tour organized by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Dehradun under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.

During the meeting, the visiting journalists showcased Uttarakhand’s unique identity as “Devbhoomi,” emphasizing its spiritual heritage, prominent pilgrimage destinations, and tourism potential. The Governor acknowledged the similarities between Uttarakhand and Odisha, particularly their deep-rooted spiritual traditions. He noted that the Jagannath Temple and Kedarnath Temple stand as powerful symbols of India’s enduring faith and cultural unity.

Highlighting Odisha’s development journey, the Governor said the state is steadily progressing toward economic prosperity, with visible advancements in infrastructure, social welfare, and industrial growth. He pointed out that government welfare schemes are effectively reaching the grassroots, while areas once affected by Left Wing Extremism have witnessed significant improvement due to coordinated efforts of the Centre and the state.

Focusing on industrial growth, he described Odisha as a mineral-rich state, where sectors like aluminium and core industries are driving rapid economic expansion. He also underscored the development of modern infrastructure, including highways, railway corridors, and ports, supported by enhanced central funding.

The Governor further highlighted Odisha’s emergence as an IT and education hub, with growing investments in semiconductor and technology sectors. He praised the state’s universities and higher education institutions for fostering innovation and research.

Recalling his association with Uttarakhand, Dr. Kambhampati spoke about his visit to the state during 2012–13 and lauded the industrial package introduced under former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, which significantly boosted employment and industrial growth in regions like Rudrapur.

He also appreciated the rapid infrastructure development across India under Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, citing the Delhi–Dehradun Expressway as a transformative project expected to enhance connectivity, tourism, and trade.

Emphasizing the role of such inter-state interactions, the Governor said that sharing experiences and best practices can accelerate national development. He also stressed the responsibility of the media as a mirror of society, urging journalists to deliver accurate, factual, and constructive information.

Concluding the interaction, Dr. Kambhampati remarked that Odisha has moved beyond earlier perceptions and is now scripting a new story of growth, opportunity, and progress, expressing hope for continued engagements that strengthen the nation-building process.
