Andaman Final Voter List Released After SIR, Over 5,000 Names Removed

Lucknow, 22 Feb, 2026 12:15 AMAndaman | 21 Feb 2026 Andaman and Nicobar Islands has completed its Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, with officials confirming that almost 5,269 names were deleted from the draft voter list before the final roll was published on Saturday. The revision exercise was carried out over several months, starting from October 27 last year and concluding on February 21, officials said. According to the final electoral roll released by the Chief Electoral Office, the Union Territory now has a total of almost 2,58,040 registered voters. Initially, as of October 27, 2025, the electoral roll had around 3,10,404 names. During the verification process, almost 64,014 ineligible electors were identified and removed from the draft list. Officials explained, "Subsequently, the statutory period for filing Claims and Objections was conducted, during which 16,919 were added and 5,269 ineligible electors were deleted." After this process, the updated and validated electoral roll stood at around 2,58,040 electors as on February 21, 2026. The final list includes almost 4,070 voters in the 18–19 age group, around 2,252 Persons with Disabilities, and over 679 voters above the age of 85. Authorities said the revision involved 100 percent physical verification, with Booth Level Officers personally delivering and collecting enumeration forms. This led to the removal of deceased voters, those who had permanently shifted out, and duplicate entries.
