Panic on Yamuna Expressway as Bus Catches Fire; All Passengers Rescued Safely

Mathura | 29 March 2026 A major incident was reported on the Yamuna Expressway in Mathura on Sunday when a private bus travelling from Agra to Noida suddenly caught fire, triggering panic among passengers. The incident occurred near milestone 64, close to Katalia village, where the bus was quickly engulfed in flames, creating a chaotic situation at the scene. According to police officials, smoke was first noticed coming out of the bus, prompting a local resident to alert authorities immediately. As the fire spread, passengers began shouting and rushed to escape. Police teams led by Station House Officer Sonu Singh reached the spot without delay and launched a rescue operation. Displaying swift action, the police successfully evacuated all passengers from the burning vehicle. Fire services were also alerted, and firefighting teams arrived soon after to control the blaze. Despite their efforts, the bus was completely destroyed by the fire, which spread rapidly within minutes. Officials confirmed that all passengers, who were returning after visiting the Taj Mahal in Agra, are safe and no casualties have been reported. They were later sent to their destination in another vehicle. Traffic on the expressway was briefly affected, and an investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the fire.
