PM Modi Promises ₹9,000 Annual Aid to Farmers in Bengal.

Kolkata, April 26, 2026 In a move aimed at strengthening farmer welfare, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a rally in West Bengal, highlighting a potential expansion of financial assistance under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. The announcement centers around increasing the total annual support to ₹9,000, signaling a push to enhance direct income support for farmers in the state.

During his speech, PM Modi stated, “We will deposit ₹9,000 under Kisan Samman Nidhi into every farmer's account.” The statement was made in the context of forming a “double-engine government,” implying coordination between the central and state governments to deliver additional benefits.

The proposal suggests that while the central government will continue providing ₹6,000 annually, the remaining ₹3,000 would come from the state government. Currently, under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, eligible farmers across India receive ₹6,000 per year in three equal installments.

The proposed increase to ₹9,000 is not a nationwide policy change but a conditional promise linked specifically to the political scenario in West Bengal.
