PM Modi Embarks on Three-Nation Diplomatic Tour

New Delhi, July 5, 2026 Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake an official visit to Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand from July 6 to 11, 2026, in a significant diplomatic outreach aimed at strengthening India's strategic, economic, and cultural partnerships across the Indo-Pacific region. Beginning with Indonesia on July 6, the visit reflects India's continued focus on enhancing bilateral cooperation with key regional partners. From July 6 to 8, Prime Minister Modi will be in Indonesia at the invitation of President Prabowo Subianto. During his stay in Jakarta, the two leaders will hold bilateral talks to review the progress of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries. The Prime Minister will also address the Indian community and visit the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Prambanan Temple Complex in Yogyakarta, a prominent symbol of the shared cultural heritage between India and Indonesia. Following this, he will travel to Melbourne, Australia, from July 8 to 10 at the invitation of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. Besides bilateral discussions with his Australian counterpart, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to meet Governor-General Sam Mostyn, participate in the India-Australia CEO Forum, interact with leading business representatives, and address a large gathering of the Indian diaspora. The final leg of the tour will take Prime Minister Modi to Auckland, New Zealand, on July 10 and 11 at the invitation of Prime Minister Christopher Luxon. On July 3, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon wrote in an X post, **“I’m delighted to announce that India’s Prime Minister will make his first official visit to New Zealand next week. India is one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing economies, and an incredibly important country to New Zealand’s economic prosperity.” He further said, “We are taking the New Zealand-India relationship to a new level through the New Zealand-India Free Trade Agreement concluded in April. This will create more jobs in New Zealand, increase exports, and strengthen economic growth. It will open new opportunities to grow our exports of goods and services into a market of 1.4 billion people – bringing more money into Kiwi communities, creating jobs, and lifting wages.” The visit will also mark the first official trip by an Indian Prime Minister to New Zealand in nearly four decades. In Auckland, the two leaders will review cooperation in trade, commerce, defence, and several other sectors that have witnessed notable progress in recent years. Prime Minister Modi is also expected to engage with prominent business and sports personalities before addressing the Indian community. Overall, the three-nation tour is expected to further deepen India's diplomatic engagement and reinforce its long-term partnerships across the Indo-Pacific region.
