Modi, UAE President Talk West Asia and Stronger Bilateral Ties

New Delhi, September 19, 2026 Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held a phone conversation on Friday, September 18, with regional developments and the future of India-UAE relations at the centre of their discussion. The call also included birthday greetings for PM Modi and a review of cooperation between the two countries. The two leaders exchanged views on the developments unfolding in West Asia and stressed the importance of continued coordination. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, both reaffirmed their commitment to working together to support peace, security and stability in the region. The conversation also covered steps to take the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership forward. Cooperation in energy, defence, technology, investment and healthcare featured among the areas discussed by the two leaders. PM Modi later shared details of the conversation on X, saying, “Grateful to my brother, the President of UAE, HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for his call and birthday wishes. We discussed measures to further deepen our bilateral Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and exchanged views on efforts to promote regional peace, security and stability." During the call, the UAE President congratulated Modi on India’s successful BRICS Presidency. Modi, in turn, appreciated the participation of UAE Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled in the BRICS Summit and acknowledged the UAE’s cooperation in helping deliver substantive outcomes under India’s presidency. The exchange comes as both countries continue to expand their engagement across strategic and economic sectors, while maintaining close coordination on issues concerning regional peace and stability.
