India Defeat Pakistan by 19 Runs to Retain Asian Games Cricket Gold

New Delhi, October 03, 2026 India continued their dominance in Asian Games cricket by successfully defending their title with a 19-run victory over Pakistan in the final. After setting a challenging target of 212 with 211/6, India’s bowlers held their nerve to restrict Pakistan to 192/6 and secure another gold medal. India’s innings was powered by an aggressive 61 off 28 balls from Abhishek Sharma, who provided the early momentum. Tilak Varma then added an unbeaten 51 from just 22 deliveries, while Shivam Dube chipped in with a quick 27 off 15 balls to take India to 211/6. Pakistan remained in the contest largely because of Hasan Nawaz, who struck 96 off 51 balls and kept the chase alive. However, India continued to pick up wickets at important stages and eventually prevented Pakistan from reaching the target. Washington Sundar, Axar Patel and Shivam Dube claimed two wickets each as India successfully defended their total. Pakistan ended on 192/6, handing India a 19-run victory and consecutive Asian Games cricket gold medals. The triumph also capped a strong campaign for Indian cricket at the Games, with the women’s team having secured gold earlier. India’s men therefore followed that success by retaining their own title and finishing on top of the podium once again.
